Lavern Dewinter; a teenager who was reported missing to the police two weeks ago from Bristol is now feared to have been kidnapped by a man known as 'The Net', who is believed to have groomed and kidnapped three other girls in the last three months.
'The Net' is thought to have contacted the twelve year old girl through chatrooms and built a friendship up over a long period of time before striking. Evidence police say is fairly conclusive that Lavern went to meet the man of her own volition and was unaware of how dangerous the meeting could be for her.
At present no bodies have been recovered in the cases of Lavern Dewinter, Maria Grace, Anabeth Dixon or kylie sky. All four girls were between twelve and fourteen years old and considered to be outgoing, clever, well adjusted and pretty girls from stable families.
'At this time we have been forced to upgrade Laverns case from a missing persons enquiry to a kidnapping case and hope that the greater resources that upgrade unlocks will allow us to make greater headway in this case.'
